Perez and Jay Z took a trip out to California in order to have dinner with the CEO at Universal Music Group. This dinner is obviously not simply for fun and it is clear that UMG has at least a passive interest in signing Jay Z once he becomes a free agent after his deal falls through with Live Nation.
