Academy of Art University’s and Avengers: Infinity War

Avengers: Infinity War was not only one of the most highly anticipated movies of 2018, but of the decade. The Academy of Art University applauds its own alum Jan Philip Cramer, who is the head of animation at Digital Domain. Cramer supervised the animation in Avengers: Infinity War. In an interview with the Academy, Cramer admits, “These are moments you dream of.”

 

Cramer has been involved in several films; Avatar, X-Men: Days of Future Past, Deadpool, Independence Day:Resurgence, and Spider-Man: Homecoming. His career in VFX and animation made all this possible for Cramer. And still to come, Cramer has projects like Ant-Man and the Wasp and Captain Marvel lined up.

 

In 2004, Cramer earned his BFA from the School of Animation and Visual Effects at the Academy. Since then, he has also received Academy of Art University’s Emerging Artist Alumni Award (2011) and became a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (2017).

 

Cramer is grateful for his time at the Academy saying it gave him a “well-rounded perspective on art, not just visual effects”. He also praises his mentors at Academy of Art University and credits them. Cramer notes that they helped shape his career path and offered him advice and guidance.

 

 

Academy alumni are no strangers to the film and production industry as they often take part on such projects. In 2017, over 50 alumni were involved in creating and producing films that received Golden Globes and Oscar nominations. The alumni were actually recognized for their leadership roles in these projects.

The Departure Of Lori Senecal Is Creating Ripples

The UK chief of CP+B, Richard Pinder, will be departing the agency. This is a big blow to the agency which is still reeling after the announcement of the departure of Lori Senecal.

This decision of Richard Pinder to exit Crispin, Porter + Bogusky is considered to be the latest in a long series of high profile departures that are happening at this creative agency.

During the past three years, Richard Pinder was at the MDC-owned shop. He was leading the UK as well as the International division from here.

He says that he has loved working in the agency along with his incredible team. But now he would like to be an entrepreneur. He feels that this is the right time to do that and hence he is going to leave the agency that he loves so much.

Before joining CP+B, Richard Pinder had co-founded The House Worldwide. This was a completely new initiative for global networks. It was working with well-known global brands that included Levis, Lenovo, besides Argos as well as Laurent Perrier. It was bought by CP+B eventually.

Richard Pinder had spent nearly a decade at Publicis before he joined CP+B. During that time he worked mainly within Leo Burnett. Later on, he became the chief operating officer for this advertising group.

Due to these reasons, the imminent exit of Richard Pinder is going to create a lot of turbulence at the London office of CP+B. This is also due to the fact that Dave Buonaguidi, its Chief Creative Officer, is also going to leave this agency within this month as he has already handed in his notice early this year.

Dave Buonaguidi disclosed that he is planning to set up a new consultancy named UNLtd-Inc. This will be along with the Director of Operations, Arjun Singh, as he will also be leaving the agency and making another role vacant.

The agency has not named any replacements for Dave Buonaguidi, Arjun Singh or even Senecal. The global chief executive of the agency, Lori Senecal had already announced that she would be leaving this agency by 2017 end. Follow her on Twitter.
