Larkin & Lacey
Are you a woman in the 21st century who loves having her equal rights and her right to choose what she wants to do with her body? NOW, or the National Organization for Women, is partially to thank for these great things. Started in 1966, they had a big part in procuring rights for women in America.
They are pro-choice, Pro-Daca and anti-Charlottesville-protest. They have a fascinating news feed on their website about the current news. You can find informative documents and articles on their website pertaining to laws pertaining to women. Read more: Michael Lacey | Crunchbase
For example, on their website, they have a document educating people about the Dignity for Incarcerated Women Act. As of 9/12/2017, this act has not been passed. NOW provides information about what laypeople can do to help this law to pass.
The Dignity for Incarcerated Women Act will do many things: provide free tampons and pads to menstruating women, ban solitary confinement and the dangerous shackling of pregnant women, provide mothers and pregnant women with parenting education and drug counseling and allow for fairer policies for those women who are primary caregivers.
NOW also takes concern for disaster relief issues. For example, on their website they provide information about organizations that you and help and donate to to assist hurricane victims.
There are many organization that passionately advocate for undocumented immigrants. The Lacey and Larkin Frontera Fund is one. Just like NOW, they have a news feed. However, their news feed is more specific and less varied than NOW’s feed.
While NOW focuses on a wider range of news, Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin focus on news having to do with undocumented immigrants. On their website, their current concern is DACA. They have articles about DACA, what DACA is about and different perspectives on politics in America pertaining to undocumented immigrants.
Planned Parenthood is another organization that serves women and lobbies for their interests. Planned Parenthood provides sexual education, abortion services, sexually transmitted infection testing and contraception.
Their existence is a big deal, because prior to the middle of the 20th century, abortion was illegal and it was illegal to disseminate contraception and information about contraception to various extents.
There is still a very noticeable amount of people who are ethically against abortion who speak against Planned Parenthood and think that Planned Parenthood are “murderers.” Ever since abortion became legal, there have been more than 200 violent assaults on Planned Parenthood locations throughout the United States of America.
